This meeting was short (approx 45 mins) due to NEC physical meeting on 18th January 2014.

 

Matters Arising

  • LK to find venue in Manchester for Lancaster Meeting, SC to confirm dates - Meeting has been rearranged to the week after, to confirm with EG - Ongoing, SC and EG to confirm dates - pencilled 8th February, to confirm
  • LK to discuss possible candidates in Wythenshawe with Manchester branch - Call out gone out to Manchester branch - to be discussed in this meeting
  • JA to co-ordinate branch "how-to" activity drawing on London and York branches this week - Ongoing
  • LK to send post for pirate times to EG - This week
  • Check through the minutes from the 18th - to finalise by the end of this week

Leader's Office

Brief update (max. 5 minutes) on actions/tasks since last meeting

LK:

  • Started actively hunting for candidates both at the local and EU levels.
  • Networked with the CryptoParty Manchester about the Free Software Festival and posted about it on the Manchester site.
  • Accepted invitations to speak Sunday 26th at the Manchester Village Community Alliance about grassroots activism and in March for the Adam Smith Institute to speak to students about democratic engagement.
  • Statement to the Inquirer on longer sentencing for copyright infringement and press release.
  • Election report on by-elections from the end of 2013 commenced.

SH:

  • Working on articles, specifically about the EU, currently working on a piece about ISPs (ready for Saturday)
  • York branch meeting yesterday, branch chair position handed to Phil Cooke

Tasks for the upcoming week

  • Continue work on the Ancoats & Clayton Election Report
  • Leader's Update by the 30th to be sent out to the membership - to coordinate between LK and SH
  • Continue work on Press, LK to introduce SH to press contacts
  • Continue work on the New Web Project
  • Liase with EG and JW on the EU member mailout

 

Finance

  • Accounting process 2014 document done, to be circulated

Campaigns

Brief update (max. 5 minutes) on actions/tasks since last meeting

  • Photographs and audio uploaded, NEC to check the transcript
  • Party branded wallpaper has been updated and circulated internally, to be made available wider
  • Campaigns actions from physical NEC to be pulled through
  • AH asks the NEC to continue working on the New Web Project before it goes live
  • Request from PP Luxemberg to help them set up an online payment process which requires a UK Company/Charity number - SC says sadly we cannot help as we don't have either number required.
  • Existing campaigns material to be re-organised and consolidated into a more useful structure, then to be pushed out wider

Tasks for the upcoming week

  • Continue work on the NWP with its impending go-live date
  • AH to give EG access to the campaigns server, with a view to setting up FTP for organising & sharing files

 

Secretariat

Brief update (max. 5 minutes) on actions/tasks since last meeting

  • Minutes from the physical NEC meeting have been done - have received a couple of clarifications, need wider NEC checking and approval

Tasks for the upcoming week

  • Continue working on pending tasks
  • Need to push out the latest member update email/blog post, but this requires the EU callout email to go out first.

 

Nominations

This is the priorities/to do list which was discussed at the physical NEC meeting on the 18th of January 2014.

  • Membership Drive
  • Membership Migration

  • Election Review
  • Conference Finance review
  • Data Protection Policy update
  • Policy Beta
  • Press - increasing output and setting targets
  • Donations / Driven donations
  • Budgets
  • Financial Statements
  • Branches / Sharing branch knowledge and experience
  • Euro '14
  • Local issue based campaigning
  • National issue based campaigning
  • NEC need to look back over the minutes, actions to be extracted and emailed out

Arising:

  • Add NWP to the priorities
  • "Adopt a postcode" with EG
  • Need to assign tasks to the NEC
  • VAT/Tax Return - to chase/Bank Account/Set of Accounts/Previous accounts to go into NWP
  • Revisit list in 4 weeks

 

Wythenshawe & Sale East

  • Conservatives and UKIP have already chosen candidates
  • Labour will be selecting their candidate tomorrow (24th Jan)
  • LK has been putting feelers out, nothing has come up; he asks is this a waste of time for us to pursue?
  • Nominations open on Monday, so we should have decided by now
  • To decide on our course of action by Sunday (26th Jan) at the latest
  • We will work on it Friday & Saturday, but may not be the best use of our time
  • AH asks if we have anyone in the area, LK says no - we have little connection to the area
  • NEC decide that we should stop chasing this with a view to focussing our resources elsewhere, LK will put out a few more feelers, but it may be a lost cause

 

New Web Project (NWP) Content

  • Work on NWP continues at pace
  • AH points out we need to make sure we have content when it launches
  • AH asks the NEC to please look at it and use it

 

Actions

  • AH and LK to check over key campaigns resources
  • LK to send EG links to press hits for upcoming member mailout
  • NEC to revisit priorities list arising from physical meeting in 4 weeks, maximum
  • NEC to look over the NWP
  • LK to finish election report for Ancoats & Clayton
  • AH and EG to go over process documents AH holds
  • SC/AH to go over treasury actions from physical meeting
