Eglwys Brewis road Press Release

Vale of Glamorgan Council will not improve safety on Eglwys Brewis road despite a teacher already having lost their life to this dangerous stretch. The road is in a bad state of decay and primarily children walk this route. I wholly support parents and other residents calls for this road to be made safer.

I understand you have been contacted from residents regarding road safety concerns around the Eglwys Brewis into Llantwit Major roads.

I contacted the higher Vale council on this matter and was given a rather comprehensive response that can be summed up to say they have had the road signed off as safe, due to the speed limit being 40 mph.

Sadly they did not respond to my comments about the poor quality of the road, such as flora overgrowth, potholes and soil encroachment creating poor road conditions which increases the level of danger. Additionally the pedestrians walking this road are often children.

I'm very disheartened to find the Vale council are not willing to improve the road safety when the life of a local teacher was already lost on this dangerous road.

I hope this will be of interest to your readers
