New Nominations Officer: A Short Introduction

Attending the Party Conference in October last year was a great experience for me, one of the best for a long time.

It was at the conference - in fact, during Loz's Speech - that I made up my mind to stand in the NEC elections for the Nominating Officer position.  I vividly remember Loz tweeting about an important announcement during the speech, and me sitting at the back of the room thinking "I hope he isn't going to announce he isn't running for Leader again in the next election".  I'll happily admit to the world, I genuinely had a tear in my eye when this proved untrue.

The conference was also the first time I met both Loz and my predecessor Phil Cooke.  I wanted to take the opportunity to say a huge thanks to Phil for his time and work in the role, and wish him best of luck in the future, obviously!  When I met Phil at the conference, I saw
a guy who was passionate and dedicated to the cause, and I'm happy to say he provided the first inspiration for me to nominate myself.

My aspirations about my term on the NEC are primarily focussed on the two separate years.  I'm lucky enough to have landed a two-year term on the NEC with two major events spread evenly over the period.  In year one, we are very fast approaching the European Elections, and local UK elections.  And in year two, we have the major UK Parliamentary elections.  Two very important events on the UK Pirate Calendar, and two events I am heartily looking forward to.
